A first tooth, a cavity, or an unexpected dental injury can bring different questions about your child’s care. At Midtown Pediatric Dentistry, board-certified pediatric dentist Dr. Marc Nardea sees infants, children, and teens at our Fifth Avenue office in Midtown Manhattan. We welcome Lower Manhattan families for preventive, restorative, and emergency pediatric dental care.
Growing Smiles, Gentle Care
When a cavity is found, or a tooth needs attention, parents want to understand what happens next. Dr. Marc Nardea explains the condition of your child’s teeth, discusses possible treatments, and helps you understand why he recommends a particular option. You can ask questions and discuss any concerns before moving forward.
Your baby’s first appointment isn’t the same as an older child’s checkup. Early visits focus on examining new teeth, checking oral development, and helping parents manage brushing, feeding habits, and teething concerns. Dr. Nardea adjusts the examination to your child’s age, with an emphasis on introducing dental care without unnecessary pressure.
Dental appointments can be challenging for children who are sensitive to sounds, touch, or unfamiliar surroundings. Some children also have medical or developmental needs that affect their visits. Our team encourages parents to share these details beforehand so we can discuss suitable communication methods, appointment pacing, and available comfort measures.
Traveling uptown for your child’s dental appointments doesn’t have to mean driving through Manhattan. Our office near West 34th Street is accessible by subway from several Downtown stations. Parents can review the route and any accessibility needs before leaving, particularly when traveling with toddlers or strollers.
Complete Smile Care for Growing Families
A toddler’s dental checkup may focus on newly erupted teeth and home brushing habits, while an older child may benefit from cleanings, fluoride, or sealants. Our pediatric preventive dentistry services help monitor oral development and reduce the risk of cavities as children grow.
Not every cavity needs the same treatment. Depending on the extent of decay or damage, Dr. Nardea may recommend a filling, dental crown, or another approach. Our pediatric restorative dentistry focuses on repairing affected teeth, protecting their function, and helping parents understand the available options.
A toothache during school or a fall at the playground can leave parents needing prompt advice. Our emergency pediatric dentistry addresses tooth pain, broken teeth, and other dental injuries. Call our office to describe what happened so our team can guide you on the appropriate next steps.
A child’s medical history, sensory preferences, and ability to communicate can influence how dental treatment is planned. Our special needs pediatric dentistry includes preventive care, dental examinations, and treatment planning that considers these factors. Parents can discuss their child’s specific requirements with our team before scheduling.

Amazing experience with Dr. Marc Nardea! My 9-year-old was extremely scared of the dentist, but Dr. Nardea made the whole process smooth and tear-free. He removed two teeth in under 30 minutes with zero drama. He was also super helpful in breaking down my insurance coverage. Professional, punctual, and great with kids. Highly recommended!
This practice is the best ever!! Not only is it easily accessible, but the office is clean and child friendly with the most pleasant staff. My child’s visit was thorough and Dr. Marc took his time to explain everything and address any concerns that I may have had. My child left the office happy and I was extremely satisfied.
It was a welcoming and very clean environment from the minute we walked through the door. My son had a wonderful experience with Dr. Marc Nardea. He was pleasant, patient and careful. He gave me a full rundown of our options and explained everything he was doing in detail. I’m so happy we found him! We plan to continue dental care with him.
We went to see Dr. Marc for my sons first dentist appointment. He was great! He took the time to answer our questions and made my son feel comfortable. Dr. Marc had a great bedside manner. My son will continue to be his patient and we’re looking forward to his next appointment!

Yes. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit when the first tooth appears or by age one, whichever comes first. Even without visible dental problems, an early examination can identify concerns and allow parents to discuss brushing, feeding, and preventing cavities.
Before the appointment, tell us about anything that has made dental care difficult for your child, such as certain sounds, unfamiliar instruments, or previous experiences. You can also share what helps them communicate or feel more comfortable. This information allows our team to discuss ways to approach the visit.
Call our office if your child develops persistent tooth pain, swelling, a chipped tooth, or another dental concern. Tell us about the symptoms or how the injury happened so we can advise you on the next step. A knocked-out permanent tooth needs immediate dental attention, while serious facial injuries or breathing difficulties require emergency medical care.
